My story with Burg started in September. I’d been basically in a rut for the year prior to that. I gained a lot of weight, and lost a lot of confidence. I went from running races up to and including marathons, and triathlons to a guy that couldn’t run a mile without having to stop. I’d had enough and was looking for something to kick start my journey back. Enter Burgfit and the wonderful coaches and members. I started attending some BurgFit classes and was impressed by the friendliness and judgment free zone that existed even as i struggled to do any part of any workout. Every workout can be modified to anybody’s ability though. I also decided i need help with my diet. I signed up to do a 3 month session with Sara. She created a plan not just based on straight numbers, but adjusted it to match what my lifestyle and food preferences were. She gave me calories and macros to follow and provided guidance and a steady influence for me during that time. Even though there were some days I slipped she kept me going the entire time. The numbers that i achieved were hard data proving that the 3 months was a success but there were more important wins than that. I got my confidence back again! I feel good about myself. I started running again, and finished 4th overall in a 6.5mile trail race at the end of those 3 months. I can push harder and with more weight in all of the workouts. I look forward to pushing myself in the workouts whereas before i just wanted to survive without embarrassing myself. And of course I look in the mirror and i like what i see looking back at me.The other thing I would say is that – it’s not a diet. It’s a lifestyle change. I honestly don’t feel like i’m limiting myself in any way and continue to eat well and look forward to finding new and creative ways to cook tasty healthy meals. And i think that’s the most important thing. Diets come and go. But with this I found myself wanting to make and keep these changes. And that lasts you the rest of your life!
