Congratulations to our February Member of the Month, Stephen Pierce!
“Steve-O” as most people call him, has had an immense impact on our community by supporting and encouraging others and making the atmosphere at Burg light-hearted and fun, all while working to better himself each and every day.
Whether the event involves cheering on fellow members at a local competition, celebrating a birthday or barbecuing, or spending time counseling some of us internet-noobs who are (significantly) less than tech-savvy, you can always count on Steve to be there. With that said, it’s not surprising that his coaches describe him as extremely dependable– a characteristic that he displays regularly as a “buddy” in our WORK program. During this program, he has consistently attended Endurance every M/W/F and has voluntarily assisted in integrating, motivating and guiding his WORK buddy through the program successfully.
It’s no secret that at Burg, we basically just like to have fun and exercise. Coincidentally, Steve does too! According to fellow members, Steve is “Pound-for-pound, the funniest Crossfitter at Burg.” He doesn’t take himself too seriously, loves to make others laugh, and always laughs at my jokes even when they’re not funny at all–which is a quality that is heavily weighted in determining the M.O.M. 😉
Steve has seen some awesome changes in his fitness over the past year by overcoming injuries, consistency, and by pushing himself. Nagging lower back pain might cause some to give up, but by following a strict mobility and strengthening program, Steve was able to eliminate his pain and injury. He is now able to move heavy loads and perform technical lifts with ease in Barbell Club, a class that attends regularly. Consistently training to improve his weaknesses has gained Steve the ability to push himself harder than ever before. This past January, Steve qualified and competed as part of a team in the Intermediate Men’s Division at the Wodapalooza Fitness Festival in Miami, Florida.
For these reasons and many more, we’re so glad to call Steve our February M.O.M.!
